Wednesday October Dr. Talmage preached to an; immense throng in the Brooklyn Academy of Music last bunday, and so great was the press that the doors had to be closed before the services begin. Ground for a new tabernacle will be broken on the 28th. of this moruh, and Dr. Talmage wiJI visit the Holy Land while the' work is being-done. We learn from our exchanges thattheie are nearly four hundred cases of typhoid fever at Tohnstown, Pa., the scene of the , fatal , flood of last spring. What a sad state of af fairs. But one ot the disagreeable features of the case is the lack of comfortable quarters for the sick, many of whom are in rude shanties. Johnstown is a good field on' wh;ch to 'expend some of the surplus sym pathy of this great but wicked coun try.
